I too looked in to this and found that for chevy they stopped sometime in the 62-63 year. Most 63's I have seen dont have the clips but I have seen some. Proof is also the fact that chevy made the 61-63 half ton hubcap in clip type and non clip. GMC I have found used the clip type 6 lug wheel all the way up to 67. Gmc had a tendency of using 15" inch 6 lug split rims, but I not always. Confused yet?

15" wheels in GM 1/2 ton trucks (with hub-cap clips) were available at least back to the 30s. I do not know what range had years had hub-cap clips at the same "orientation".

The condition of the wheels would seem to me to be the biggest factor determining if tubeless or tubed radials would be able to be used?
