The nice clean rad I had left from the parts pile is full of pin holes (THANKS KATRINA) is there a replacement for the 1960 GMC 1002 model? I don't know what to ask for. The truck I have has a non-leaking rad, and I can always take that off and have it restored, but was looking to replace it with newer if possible? Any ideas?

There should be no problem getting a new replacement radiator at any of the often mentioned parts sources, LMC Truck, Chevy Duty (old name), Brothers, etc.

I just went to the http://www.radiator.com web site and have to say, this is one of the most user friendly sites I've been to. Very unusual, I commend the Webmaster, he is one of the few that knows what he is doing and I’ll bet it makes a huge difference in the bottom line for these people.
Although no one was in at this time of the morning, I did get a rough estimate, also very unusual. Their initial quote looked as competitive or cheaper than any of the other vendors that have radiators listed in their catalogs. The only problem I can see with buying a radiator mail order is what condition the radiator would be in after the Big Brown gorilla delivers it from CA to IL.
I am gonna keep them in mind when I delve into the under hood portion of the restoration.

Denny, I got my 1st rad from Jim Carter, & it was delivered by FedEx. It looked like it had fallen off the truck, been run over,& put back on the truck. I woulda sent it back but I really needed it. After straightening alot of fins I was happy to see it didn't leak, & the dent in the bottom is not visible when mounted. Bought one a couple years ago from rad.com-it arrived thru UPS w/o a mark on the box or radiator, + it arrived in 2 days. In fact, it was packed so well it was hard to get outta the box. Very happy w/them. Brian

I just needed some advise and I was blown away by their willingness to help me.

Very unusal in todays world and if I do need anything they sell I will be doing business with them!!

Looked impressive to me also.

I just went through their neat little message center...typed in my phone number and my phone rang within 20 seconds!!! However, this is where things got frustrating. The tech indicated that they had 2 possible radiators. One for the 6 cylinder and one for the V8! Now, unless I've been missing something....Chevy didn't use a V8 until 55. I repeated that mine was a 235-6 (again). He said it showed a rad for a 1954 CK. A 1954 "CK" hummm!

Did he give you a specific radiator and a price for your 50? Maybe I'll try again tomorrow....the interesting thing was that they indicated they have a warehouse here in our little industrial park....gave me the numerical address. Oh well...is there a full moon?

Just noticed that LMC is selling there 47-55-1st radiator for $239.00

I bought a rad from lmc for my 54, the holes where located in the wrong spot causing my fan to hit the lower hose. The fins where also so thin I was afraid the wind would bend them. Lmc was great to deal with and refunded my money. I bought one from clasic parts (chevy duty) and am very happy with it.

Does anybody in Southern California know of a place that carries radiators for old vechiles in stock? I ordered one from Brothers..but it is taking to long..5 weeks now...and I want to finish my project...Brothers had the best price but the wait is not good...

both lmc and classic parts rads took less than 5 working days.
