The torus cover has a small groove on the outside surface of the neck that seals with the front oil seal. The new seal seems to be tight. Has anyone used a worn torus cover and had problems with leaks? Has anyone had experience with reconditioning these torus necks? Also have some rather worn shifter linkages (the posts that fit into the levers) that I fear might sheer off. Anyone tried reconditioning these or should I just remanufacture them. This would take some time. | | | | | Joined: Feb 2004 Posts: 29,851 Kettle Custodian (pot stirrer) | | Kettle Custodian (pot stirrer) Joined: Feb 2004 Posts: 29,851 | You might try putting a spacer behind the seal to move the contact point with the torus hub to a slightly different position. Even 1/8" or so would be enough to get onto a fresh sealing surface. Check with FATSCO transmission parts to see if they have shifter linkage- - - -they specialize in obsolete automatic transmission parts. http://www.fatsco.com/index.htmI've done business with them for several years, and once you get past the "Noo Yawk" attitude case, they're good people! He failed my torrus cover for just that reason. It also had a worn area about the same place on the inside of the neck. He had me call Leon at www.areds.com and they sent me a remanufactured cover. http://rides.webshots.com/photo/1401771788047579877NSMxhU
