They fit perfectly and no interference. One obvious difference is the new rims have 6 hand holes and the old rims have 5. There is also larger, flat contact surface on the center. http://share.shutterfly.com/action/welcome?sid=8Ibs2LFo3bsqe A day without laughter is a day wasted- Charlie Chaplin When wrestling a grizzly bear, you have to keep at it until the bear gets tired, not when you get tired. 1948 Chevy 2-Ton | | | | Joined: Apr 2009 Posts: 121 Wrench Fetcher | Wrench Fetcher Joined: Apr 2009 Posts: 121 | what were these new wheels originally from? The wheels were $2300, and the tires about $2100. Then I got dinged over $400 for our fabulous HST tax that the last government sneaked in right after they were elected. I don't have many toys so I decided to pop for the solid rims and new radial rubber. I just got tired of trying to find decent replacement rims. I spent over two months looking for some, with little in way of results. Either people didn't get back to me or they wouldn't take a tire off to see if they were rusted, like my originals, before I bought them. Now I can have these serviced just about anywhere, and they will certainly out live me. We pay it on everything made here but paying it on things that are imported is just plain wrong. Thankyou!
Your wheels look amazing. Stockton does nice work. | | | | Joined: Sep 2001 Posts: 581 Shop Shark | Shop Shark Joined: Sep 2001 Posts: 581 | WOW! That's the best real solution to the wheel problem I've seen. I've always hated the idea of changing to a different rear-end or some-such thing, because it strayed so far from original. But I could live with this.
Sorry, I missed the original thread. What size were the original tires - 8.25 x 20?
Well done.

I still have some work on the front end to finish. I took out the rad and had it recored, and while I was in there I took out some sheet metal that was stressed cracked, and welded it up. I still have to paint and replace that.(Most likely after basketball season. I teach at a local high school and working with the senior girls team)
The originals were the 8.25 X 20s. As far as what they made the rims from, I have no idea, but they fit perfectly. Everything looks new to me. I'm speculating they started out as these 6 lug Budd wheels (or narrower version) they are not that difficult to find. And they cut the center bolt pattern out and welded in a new plate and drilled the 10 on 7.25" pattern. Grigg - I'm with you on that flat plate face. Same as the other person that had them done at Stockton. I'd guess the donor wheels are Accurides judging by the hand hole shape. They would have had the part number on the original face. Budds would have the number on the concave side along the drop center. Stu | | | | Joined: May 2005 Posts: 8,877 . | . Maybe later tonight, but I will be at school late. They are Accuride, made in Canada for gosh sakes. Says: Accuride 22.5 X 6.75 DOT-T Canada then looks like... 01 21 88 1 L S 8. That's all that's there. Can't believe they were made in Canada and I couldn't find anyone around Vancouver who wanted to make some. Reminds me when I used to go to Fred Meyer in Bellingham WA to buy Glidden paint. It was always on sale, hardly ever saw it when it wasn't, for $9.99 a gallon. In Canada it was like $38 a gallon. The check out person asks why we would drive down to get it, because he said it came from Montreal. Go figure. This was back in the early 1980s. Don't think their is enough info to determine what the original part number and bolt pattern was, but I'm still guessing 6 lug budd.
