A year or two ago, I sent a Gallery submission on my '46 pickup that had been placed on a '94 S10 chassis, aka Rusty. He looks a bit different now. We've enjoyed him alot-around 15000 miles worth,if my figures are right. He's not quite finished- this is just primer right now, but will still be looking somewhat like this even after paint. He's not a show truck, never will be, just a good ole boy. I thought I'd post a few pics and see what everyone thought of him.
From the day I bought him:

To this:
And now with a little vinyl work:

and my favorite shot of Rusty:

What do you think, does he look a bit more in character than with the Cragars? He'll be getting semi gloss black paint this winter, possibly with some "old school" pinstriping, and maybe aquire some black steelies and black wall radials, just to change things up occasionally.

I'd rather walk and carry a Chevy hub cap than ride in a Ferd.

Ha! Thanks, but I've the distinct feeling that I'd be leaving with rusty if I decided to part with him. My wife and my four year old daughter would rather have Rusty at home than Daddy, I think. grin I'd really like to get him a little canned ham camper to pull before next spring, but I don't know if that'll happen.

It's sounds like you've gone from rusty to dusty. Nice job.

Joker, I didn't realize that the pic of the door sign was unable to be read. Here's a proof pic of what's on the door. The only difference is the word "classics" after "junkyard dog". I wanted something that looked semi-period correct, and wanted the old truck to have kind of a "shop truck" vibe. As a friend owns a vinyl sign company, it seemed like a good idea to have him make a logo in vinyl. I figured if I didn't like it, it'd peel right off. Now, everybody in the area knows Rusty by the dog on the door. It also has " It IS finished" written on the tailgate, to stop everyone from asking when it was gonna be painted, lol.

I'm about 60 miles northwest of Little Rock, just off of I-40. I work in Little Rock at the State Capitol though, and drive it daily. Rusty even makes the occasional appearance at the Capitol and always has an adoring public to please.

thanks, we toured the Capitol while there, well the wife and grand-kids did, I was still suffering from chemo so I had to take many breaks, I only noticed one or two officers in the building. seem to be low profile building, nice folks though

Joker, we have several officers on duty at any given time, but we tend to roam around the complex with only a couple stationed at the doors. Everybody's pretty nice and laid back, it's a world of difference from the city police department I worked at for years. If you get back down this way, stop by and see me. I'll buy ya a cup of coffee. Just ask any of the officers for Bob, the cop that's a car nut. They'll know exactly who you're talking about, they think I run a car lot due to the number of vehicles I drive, lol. I'm off on tues. and Wed, rest of the time, I'm there from 7 am to 3 pm.
