My cam is pitted on the heel portion on about half the lobes and the lifters show cupping wear. Can the lifters and cam be resurfaced without loosing the hardening? Does anyone know of a source for cam regrinding; I would like to have the original grind profile. Thanks.....

Bear in mind that taking in your cam to be reground will likely require a machine to be set up for one pc. only. A cam from a FLAPS or other vendor would have been done during a production run and almost certainly will cost less. Depending of the depth of the hardening grinding it off is also a possibility.

Call Kanter and check out their price for a 261 camshaft (it might be about $250 including the cam gear).

I personally wouldn't have a cam reground if I could find a new one. Same with the lifters.

Too much work if there is a problem. Go with new and be done.

Did you install new lifter or resurfaced? Have you run the engine and if so, how many miles so far.

I just talked to Ken at Delta Cams; $44.56 to grind my cam and $2.50 each for the lifters; total of $74.56. Cheap enough....

I'm sending my cam and lifters to Delta Cams; I'm going back with the original profile of the three dot 261, After all, Arkus Duntov designed the cam and GM did the R&D.

Let me know how that reground cam works out for you over the long term. I never have had good luck with a reground cam, so won't ever use one anymore.

Remember, you get what you pay for. But I hope you have good luck.
