I have a LT1 from a 95 Camaro that I want to install in my 65 Chevy, the only problem is the A/C compressor on the Camaro LT1 is right where I need to hook up my motor mount on the passenger side. Doea a Impala, Buick roadmaster, Buick Wagon have a different accessory drive set up where I could use the std sbc 3 hole mount on the passenger side ? The drivers side is fine........Thanks for the the help in advance. Kieth

I saw on one of the weekend TV shows the other day, that some body came out with a bracket kit to solve that problem. I don't remember which show or who made the bracket.

I found the bracket it is from Bowers race and rod shop, it relocates the compressor to the drivers side valve cover high....cost $289.00 not cheap but better than 700-1500.....Kieth

Keith,
Can you use a late 80's or early 90's accessory bracket which would move the compressor to the top of the engine.I'm thinking Van/Truck with a 5.0 or 5.7 .

I can't recall if my 87 Vette had the same compressor mounting point as my 95 Vette, so I'm not sure when GM started mounting the compressor off to the left of the alternator on the drivers side of the engine. Maybe you can find an old Vette that's being parted out.

Only LT1 accessory brackets will work on an LT1 engine as the bracket mounting bolt holes are in a different location from other small blocks. The Camaro, Caprice and Corvette each had different accessories and different drive hubs on the crank. Your options are - get the complete Corvette accessory system, use the BRRS bracket or notch the frame.

Kieth, you also have the option of fabricating the bracket. Doing that would enable you to end up with exactly what you want.

Previous generations of street rodders didn't have Summit Racing, Jegs, Speedway Motors, etc so we made a lot of our own stuff. It's really not hard to do if you have access to metal remnants, a drill, a hacksaw or bandsaw and an AC buzzbox welder.
