The Stovebolt Site Forums The Parking Lot Big Bolts Need Feed Back

Finished with my 54 5 window 3100 now I need a new project, I have had my eye on this truck http://austin.craigslist.org/cto/2095203977.html but really don't know much about the big bolts, PO says it is pretty much rust free but I have not had a chance to take a look, does the price seem like a good place to start bardering? Let me know what you all think

If you really want a 2 ton, it's not a bad deal. I'm in Fredericksburg and there are not many two tons around here for sale. The picture is a little fuzzy, but it looks pretty decent. The cab will be the same as a pickup. The hood, fenders and grill are a little larger. The engine and 4 speed will be the same one offered in a pickup. Working on them is not that much different than a pickup, but most people don't have a garage large enough. And of course they don't really not lend themselves to a Friday night cruise. Does it have a negotiable title?

It's probably a good price to start from. Depends ultimately what condition the body is in and if either engine is worth anything. IF you do go and look I would bring something along to try and turn the engines with....if they are free chances are they can be used with little or even perhaps no work.

I'm not sure that the transmission would be the same as what is on a pickup though. Perhaps it changed but my '46 1.5ton transmission is grossly larger than a pickup from the same year. Granted the listing says it has the transmission anyway.
