I used to drive it alot, but the last 5 or 6 years it's been settin. Due to unforseen circumstances I've had to sell my modern stuff to unload some payments. I've got "ol blue" back on the road, this old truck has never let me down. I really want to get power steering, and the front end is pretty wore out. Also want to put a/c in it. Our east texas summers are getting more misrable all the time. Naturally I need to do this as inexpensively as I can. Any suggestions and tips will be appreciated very much. Thanks alot. | | |

The specialty suppliers have a bracket kit to use the 67-79 truck steering gear. Get a pump & brackets from a salvage that fits your engine. New hoses & thats it. The air comes in kit forms but is pretty expensive.

The columns from vans up to late 70,s early 80,s also fit. The later ones are more diff. to swap in. They have the key in the column. I,m not shure what is involved on the later ones but it,s done all the time.

We took the pump and steering box off the '82 and bolted it right on to the '67. Had to trim a small piece off of the fenderwell to clear the hoses, but other than that we were home free.
While we were at it we got the power brake booster off the '82 and swapped it in to. If you want details on that let me know.
Long story short - this is an easy swap, doesn't cost much and makes a HUGE improvement in driveability! | | |
