You will also need to change the flywheel to a flex plate. There will be other things, like the shift linkage and a cooler on or in front of the radiator. good luck. It depends on what your rear end ratio is & tire diameter. I'm not sure what year you have but most of these old trucks are geared pretty low. A 350 trans. will not give you anymore highway speed then a manual trans. You might want to look at a 700R4 trans. They say money can't buy happiness. It can buy old Chevy trucks though.
