Hi all. Just wanted to post a video of my Dads GMC 4000 that is still used on the family farm. My '48 makes an appearance at the end, hope you like it.

Just watch the whole thing. Well done. I like the music too.

Is that the original V-6 Gas I hear in there?

Also see that it is another 4000 series with the heavier, wide front axel, along with the wide fenders. Pretty rare for a 4000 model.

The truck reminds me a lot of the '62 GMC 6500 I used to drive.

Nice video. Is that Scott H. Biram I hear at the end?

That was the coolest I have to make it a point to get down to Albany to see you and your trucks. I would sure like to build a trailer like them that you have built.

Hey thanks for all the comments. Yep it's the GMC 305 V-6 gas engine, although it's not the original.

The truck is hauling filberts (hazelnuts) but it was me and my brother that were doing the driving. My Dad was back on the farm running the harvester. This season it hauled a little over 500,000 lbs on 100 mile round trips.

Come on down Grant, anytime. It's Scott H. Biram Hillbilly, he's singing the first song too.

Paul.

Hi Paul...

Great video, well put together, looks like you've had alot of practice at it. These utube videos of old trucks in action bring back alot of memories, hope you have more videos to come.

What's the gross weight of the truck and trailer with load of filberts? Is it more of a volume than weight issue for the pup trailer? It looks like the 305 V6 handles it well..

James

Thanks James. It's licensed for 40,000 lbs. Filberts aren't nearly as heavy per volume as wheat, but heavier than grass seed.

Back in the 70's and early 80's my Dad used to haul wheat with this rig from Coburg, OR to Portland, OR, about 100 miles one way. Talk about a grind, it would take 4 hrs to make the trip loaded, a little faster on the way home. There wasn't near the traffic in those days, but with the weight limits of the time the truck and pup could haul almost what the eighteen wheelers where hauling. If I remember correctly his legal gross weight was around 57,000 lbs.

I would ride with him all the time and I was small enough I could stand on the bench seat and look out the front windshield. Things were sure a lot different then.

Great video! I have it bookmarked! Very similar to my 64 4000.

Awesome video. Looks like a Ford PU cut you off at about 9 min. Probably texting. You got er hauled down quick though. Checking out some more of your vids. Very nice.
