I have a 1951 Chevy 3100 truck and want to install a set of alloy wheels without using aluminum adapters. The new wheels are much thicker than the stock steel riveted rims of course so using the stock lug studs and nuts is unsafe because of the lack of extra needed thread length. Can someone direct me to a supplier of a LONGER wheel stud bolt/with chrome nuts that will press into the stock hubs without any problem. The stock lug stud is a 7/16" diameter X 20 thread I believe.

NAPA should have the studs.

ARP has a nice selection of wheel studs, check them out as well as NAPA

I have alloy wheels that are mounted with clever nuts that eliminate that issue allowing me to switch back and forth between mags and "parade boots" (stock rims, hubcaps, and wide whitewalls). See here:

I like Curt's suggestion, but if you do decide to buy new studs make sure you have one original from your truck as a example in hand. Chevy(GM) used varying widths on the knurled area of the stud depending on year and model.

I wish I would have knew about those extended lug nuts from Curt’s post a few months ago.

Used longer studs on my 50 fronts because I had to use 1/4 spacers.

had to go up to 1/2 to get the proper length.

Took an old one to my CARQUEST parts guy and he found a 1/2 that worked. With the proper knurled shoulder.

I would have definitely given those extended lug nuts a try first.

Good Luck

I needed longer studs on my '56. We looked all through NAPA's book and could find none in 7/16. I had to use 1/2" and had to cut the knurl back some on the lathe.

curt: as you stated the web links provided are dead.....and you stated the following "But the primary site name will be around for a long time so you still can look them up at their home page and then search for the ET lug nuts on their site"
However, you never mention the "PRIMARY SITE NAME" in your posting?

My rims are American Racing and the place I bought them from had a bucket of those nuts so I would guess most tire shops selling that brand should have some on hand. I only posted that link as it had a good visual of what I was describing and it looks like Summit sells the ones I have:
