I have an original 55.2 Chevy 3100 with an electric wiper motor. I am trying to install a two speed wiper switch (wiper switch here) The motor has one brown wire, the switch has 5 posts, Labeled as follows: W, B, 1, 2, 3. How do I wire this thing? Also, I have this wiper pump (washer pump). Any input would be great.

the original wiper motor is controlled via a cable that pushed the internal mechanical switch on the wiper motor from off to slow to fast, I doubt that multi position switch will be of any use to you except to run the washer [the W termnal], which you could do with a toggle switch - the other 4 posts would be different speeds which would have to be controlled by some resistors in the switch .... meant for modern replacement wiper motors I'd think

I should have taken more photos of my wiper motor when I removed it because I don't remember how that cable is attached.

Does anyone have photos of a 55-56 electric wiper motor?

don't have a pic with the cable attached, but here is a 5-7 motor - the cable housing end is captured where the squarish plate with 3 screws is - cable core attaches at the end of the surface rusted bracket, should be able to figure it from that .... can be attached to the motor unit before installing, don't hafta work under the dash

Here are several photos of a 1954/55 Chevrolet truck 6v 2-speed electric wiper motor. From looking at Bill's photo, it looks like the earlier 6v motor looks like the later 12v motor.

The motor, as Bill describes, can have two cables attached to it (see the last four photos). One cable is for the slide-actuated on/off/2-speed control; and, one cable is for the foot-actuated windshield-washer mechanism (it cleverly turns on the wiper-motor when the washer squirts on the windshield).

On the front on the on/off cable, there is a tab/clip which goes into the little "pocket" on the motor-housing. You can also see the grooves for two cables on the cable-attachment-point on the motor housing (there is a cable hold-down clamp/cover which is not shown in the photos

I'll post a photo of the on/off/speed cable/clamp, if you want to see it). You can see where the second cable attaches. However, I am not certain how the second cable (for washer/wiper) activates the wiper (maybe Bill or Greg Hill has a photo?).

I have the same motor but it does say 12 volt. I found the original switch with the cable but it is broken. The part number on the back is: P8701041. Does anyone know where to get reproduction or rebuilt switches? I've lost the clips as well.

I've never seen any repros available for that, but you might try a post in the parts wanted, the switch/cable are the same for the 5-7 vacuum motors so anyone who converted to aftermarket electric could have one

and yes Tim, I'd say the units are identical with the motor switched to 12V when that change happened
