I thought I'd take it apart from the hinge since I want to clean it up too. Anyone know what size and type of rivet those are? TIA!
Dan | | | | | Joined: Sep 2007 Posts: 2,644 Shop Shark | | Shop Shark Joined: Sep 2007 Posts: 2,644 | Drill one out and measure the hole diameter. Your replacement rivet should protrude 1.5x diameter to produce the correct size head after setting it.
If you've never driven a rivet you are in for a surprise as to exactly how much force it takes to drive one. Tubular rivets take less force but require specialized tools to set properly.
I doubt that replacing them with screws would hurt anything beyond aesthetics, but that's up to you. | | |
