I have a 1950 GMC with the stainless door mouldings. I need to replace the door felt. I bought a pair of them from Classic truck parts. No instructions included. The originals are stapled to the trim. I have no way of stapling the new felt strip and wondered it someone on this forum had an idea as to how to do this replacement job.
I expect to get some replies that tell me to do a search and the answers lie within thisforum; but I have been searching for an hour now and have not come up with a comprehensive answer. I will donate at least 100k to the charity of my choice if I do receive some help that I feel is worthy. Thanks to all. Charlie

Yep, that's it. It comes in a straight peice and has not yet been trimmed and formed to match the original yet. I though I'd ask befor performing any surgery.

The felt I used came in a kit with the window channels, It was already formed.

I just transferred the original hole from the stainless to the felt. I used an adhesive and placed the staples in.

I’ve read of some members using a small sheet metal screw to screw them on and not using the staples.

use a sharp bit if you have to drill into the stainless, or drive your screw into an existing staple hole.

I saw a pic from a member who did this. The screw head was driven below the felt and had no chance of scratching the glass

Luckily my felt was formed already, Maybe a member who formed them will give you some tips on that.

Alot of people re-attach that with 3-m weatherstrip adhesive,or similar.
If youre really getting into the details, you can pull out the old,rusted staples and make new ones from some wire and "staple" it back into place.
Or,,,very small,,real small sheet metal screws.

Charlie, if your cats wisker is not formed on the ends then send them back a find a vendor that sells them prformed. They are (hard to) bend with out spreading the bead open, that's what holds the fabric in place.
The staples that the vendors sell are not the same width as the original ones so you have to make new ones that are the correct width. You can transfer the existing holes in the garnish to the new anti-rattle strips, that is shown in the pictures.

Most of the guys just opt for the little sheet metal screws.

Hey you got it.I don't assume that I will make a bending jig like in the demo, but I may go for the staple transfer to get everything to line up. That'll give my wife something to do over the weekend, while I'm chasing around.

Charlie, send Pete52 a pm, he did his this past winter and he got them pre-bent and they look just like the original parts.
