I picked up a good condition Motorola 605. It does not have a speaker, so I will have to get one. Plans are to have it re-caped, and replace the tubes. As well as find a good speaker. I will make a bracket that mounts the remote dial to the two bottom mounting holes of the stock chevy radio. the knobs are on a 7" spacing so it will not fit in the dash and I am not about to cut.

I will then mount the speaker in the stock speaker location behind the dash, and the receiver will bolt to the firewall near the heater.

Anyone have any experience with these. the chassis, paint, logo, and wiring are in good shape, just a bunch of dried up caps. Cost $26 to buy.

So, you will have two radios then?

Is it the head unit with the curved dial?

Actually, 3. I picked up another AD radio in complete good working order. awhile back, I have not installed it yet, I just hook up my testing rig and listen to it every now and then with my other old radios. The motorola is just an available radio from the time, that someone might have bought or put in a truck because they were less expensive, or maybe they had it in a prior vehicle.

I will post pics, It looks like it would fit the AD dash, but the knobs and the dial are to narrow. It is a cool radio and has more tubes that the AD radio, so I am wondering about the quality of the reception. It has a separate speaker from the chassis that I need to purchase yet.

Motorola made a kit to have that radio installed in your truck , a specal head control was made for your dash, I've worked on these .If you can find one they are a lot cheaper than the OME's,but are a lot more rare , and it would be correct vintage , go for it.
