I have a shifter box for my 52 chevy 1/2 ton that has a broken spring inside. I have searched and called but I have yet to find anyone who sells the spring. Any help would be highly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

I tried that with no luck. If you can, find a used box for spare parts or swap yours for a rebuilt one from vendors.

If so, one end has a hook on it and the other end looks like it is broken. It may not be broken at all. All it does is keep tension on the levers. | | | | | Joined: Dec 2005 Posts: 2,557 'Bolter | | 'Bolter Joined: Dec 2005 Posts: 2,557 | Jim carter use to sell those springs brand new years ago.You might try calling them.

This helped me with a problem that I had with a spring that had been installed incorrectly. It drove me nuts for months until I saw this pic, and re-installed it correctly. Yours may not be broken at all. | | | | | Joined: Sep 2001 Posts: 29,269 Bubba - Curmudgeon | | Bubba - Curmudgeon Joined: Sep 2001 Posts: 29,269 | Here is a diagram of a car shifter mechanism. The truck's assembly has similar parts in similar locations. Parts for the mechanism at the bottom of the shaft (4.022) are probably not readily available (except as used parts) but parts for the mechanism at the top (inside the shifter arm and support) are available. Jim Carter sells reconditioned 4.022 assemblies. | | |
