Can someone tell me what the weight of these are - unladen, and what load they can carry.

I see them called 1.5 ton trucks but I am not sure why.

Thanks in 'advance' - (get it)

Urban Riot,

If you're talking the '47 2nd series through '55 1st series 4400's

The 4409 (with flatbed) curb weight is: Approx 5,320 lbs
Max Gross Vehicle Weight is: 12,500 lbs

Not sure about the rating nomenclature.

I pulled these out of my Truck Data Book. If someone else can correct me, please do.

John

I don't think "55 2nd series" and "Advance Design" fit together in the same sentence..

Advance Design as I understand it stopped with the last 55 1st series.

Correct - that's a Task Force, not A/D.

The '56 specs are online.

Curb Weight 4,595 LB. (cab and chassis)
Payload (incl "bed") 9,230.

That'll at least get you close. Wheels were changed in '56, so that might affect the figures. I've got the '55.2 manual at home.

Your GVWR should be on a plate at the front of the driver door jam. Find a set of scales near you and subtract the weight of your rig to get payload capability.

Great looking truck!
