Hello All, Looking to add the 3rd seat where originally was none. Should be able to use the back seat for the 3rd and find the correct 2nd
seat over time? Any thoughts about puttin in the rear sliders instead of the straight glass? Just a thought.

OK. Let's back the truck up here a bit. Your tag line suggests 3rd seat installation info. Then you shotgun into sliding glass windows and then you go back to a questionable question about the seats again. Or was it a question?
Generally speaking, we slow folks here on these boards can only handle one issue at a time. So maybe if you flesh out your thoughts a bit more and focus on the issue in the title of your post only, maybe we can help you out. You've gone 2 days without a reply, so I guess I'm not the only one who's a bit slow on the uptake.

I don't understand this statement,
"Should be able to use the back seat for the 3rd and find the correct 2nd"
Is the back seat the 2nd and is it not correct?

I agree that the original post seems to be mixing two topics. and reference to which seat he has is confusing (and contradictory).

Regarding: "Should be able to use the back seat for the 3rd and find the correct 2nd"
I think the point is that he has the correct third seat and will place it in the position of the second seat until he finds the correct ??? (2nd) seat?

Yeah, but he says, "where originally was none" in regards to the 3rd position. So that's not jibing either.

Hey fellas, ease up. He has a burb that came with two seats and a rear cargo area. In that config, the second seat could correctly be called his back seat. When adding a third seat, his former second seat (full width) should move to the rear and a proper (narrower) second seat from a true three-seater should go in the middle. No further fleshing of thoughts is necessary here, unless you are asking someone that is unfamiliar with suburbans.
As for the glass, two-seaters had one set of sliders forward and one fixed window in the far rear on each side. Those equipped with three seats had two sets of sliders per side.
Though I've never done it, I'm guessing it's pretty straightforward to swap them out. finding the parts should be the only real hard part. look for a donor that you can pull them out of and educate yourself in the process. Good luck.

Hey sorry fellas If my post was confusing and misleading. The set up I have is this:
66 GMC with front bench and one back seat. Also has, as oem4me pointed out,
one Lh & one Rh slider window for the back seat and a set of fixed windows at the far rear. The carryall has the factory tracks from the rear seat back to the clamshell
gate. My question is and sorry I was inept the first time, would it be possible to
convert the carryall to a three seat configuration with installing a slider set in the far rear and moving the back seat to where the third seat is normally located. I would need to locate the standard, shorter width middle seat and a set of sliders. Again,
sorry to be confusing and thanks for the patience!

Here is a picture of 1963 gmc suburban, with the rear sliders you describe. The seat tracks are from the rear of the front seat to the clam door opening. You can position the seats in whatever order you want.I never knew that the rear sliding windows was an option.Try instant messaging oltrucks on this site,he took some really good pictures of this suburban at the show.
