Well its been a busy summer, didnt get as much done as I wanted to but I never do. Still hoping to get some more done before the snow gets here..

I started this year buy rebuilding the mess of a cab... i tore it apart..

this was a little sketchy.. but it went back together pretty well
http://i385.photobucket.com/albums/oo291/mack1416/Trucknofloor.jpg

then I put a different floor pan in, and began to rebuild the lower cowl and the rear corners..

Then replaced the whole rear skin you can see in the previous pic how much was missing

now that its back together.. i did this...yikes

finished the chop back up

as most of you have probably figured out by now.. i am not restoring this old gal..

I then dropped the cab back on the frame I built, some of you may recal a thread about a year ago reguarding the custom rear end i built.. I also did a [censored] break conversion on the front earlier this year... full air ride with 4 links both front and rear

the engine is now in... SBC.. 307

Heres the link to my photo bucket if anyone would like to check out more pics

Hmm....I'm going to have to get going on the truck I want to build. I love the dually idea, but more people are doing them and I don't want to build what has become common smile

It looks like you do some great work. It sits lower than what I am planning on, but I love the nice heavy frame you are using, definitely beats 2x3 tube, and looks a lot better as well.

Something I look at now whenever I look at a rod is how they do the front steering. It's really hard to see in pictures, but did you get the steering set properly when putting the drag link in front of the axle. If so, how did you do so? See http://www.nationaltbucketalliance.com/tech_info/chassis/ackerman/Ackerman.asp for what I mean.

Keep up the great work.

I have yet to sort out the Ackerman... But its on the long list of things to do... Basically when you flip the drag link to the front the point where it meets the steering arms needs to be out (wider) than the point of the king pins... I'm going to fab some temporary arms and when I get the Ackerman dialed in I'm going to heat and bend the original ones to match...

Thats the plan anyway... Although I have been contemplating just fabbing up some new beefy ones and calling it a day...

As far as the dually rods... I have yet to see one in person so not very common... The ones I have seen on the net generally use modern chasis which ruins the look of the industial nature of the old trucks... The old tall skinny bias ply tires are going to be what really finishes off my truck .. Going to be running tall wide white walls, And usually the modern front ends are much wider which I think ruins the look...

Very cool, I like it!I think the motor is too modern and too short in length. Nice job on all the fabrication. Thanks for sharing , keep the updates coming. Cheers

Yeah I have only seen a couple dually rods and they have all been online as well.

Glad to hear you already thought about the steering. The last show I went to I think about half of the cars there with the drag link in front were set up wrong.

Can't wait to see the finished pictures smile
