About 40 years ago, we put a 55 chevy truck straight axle under my 57 Chevy belair. I want to think we used 53/54 Chevy car front hubs, bearings, and brake drums on the truck spindles, to convert it over to 5 bolt pattern. It been too many years and too many
beers ago to remember for sure smile. Would anybody know for sure? I want to convert my 55 3100 over to a 5 bolt pattern.

TIA. Brian

I did it back in the 70's. Put 53 drums on all my PUs 55 thru 57. Just need to use the pickup inner bearing and race because the car spindle is different on the inside. Also you need to loose the dust shield.

Also you need to loose the dust shield. It worked back then even when stupid enough to run them over 100 mph. I made it through those years thank goodness.

I'll join the crowd. I also did this swap in the 70's on a '41 Chevy 1/2-ton. I had to make new spacers between the backing plate and spindle, but that was no big deal.

OK, Im in too. It musta been a '70s thing.
I used '53 car hubs and drums on my '54 truck axle so i could run my "cool" tru-spokes. Iv since thrown away the tru's, and still have the 5 lug hubs and drums....around here...somewhere.
