The hood is hard to open and close like it's in a bind especially the last 6 inches before it closes. Actually ruined a new hinge forcing it closed. Did you open and close hinge while removed? Some repop parts are junk! Any possibility they're mounted wrong? Have you lubed/greased them? Often new parts have to be "worked" to get them to loosen up. Hope something here helps. Let us know how it turns out.

You need to lube the joints & work them a bit to free them up. I put some repo's on my 58. I had to elongate the holes some to get the back of the hood down far enough & i changed the weatherstrip on the cowl to something softer. It works & fit's real good now.

I'm with you I think they are junk, the right one already has play in one of the rivets allowing the rear of the hood to stand like a wore out one!

Was afraid to alter them but what the hell there not working as is and it's only money right?

I just bought a set for a 58 from LMC and they worked very well.Lubed them and worked then up and down prior to installing the springs. I also changed the seal to some weather striping. I wound up using the old springs. The new ones were so stout it would pull the hood up in back.
