What are people using? I know the ins and outs of each, but is one more "correct" for a SB Resto?

ER, I know I'll probably slap my forehead, but whats a SB Resto ?
I think of "correct" relating to the appearance of the end product.
If BC is used most times the end result will far exceed that of the original type of paint used at the time of production.

Nothing wrong with that unless you relate it to "correct" and if you were to define restoration you would find that it means to "return to original condition".

My thought is....use what ever you want to achieve the end result your after.

I was a concourse judge for many years and I once judged a car which had been repainted to be like it was originally with the flaws that the factory had put in it.
I knew it wasn't the original paint, but yet it appeared to be !
I asked the owner how that was done and he told me.

It was an interesting example of what some guys will do to achieve being "correct" as it was when it left the factory.

You did not indicate your year of truck in the post above, nor in your Profile-signature.

It looks like you might be referring to 1956 ?

In 1956, Chevrolet trucks came from the factory with baked-on Dupont DULUX synthetic enamel.

Modern single-stage Acrylic enamel would be similar, without or with a hardener.

Single-stage, two-part Urethane enamel would be a more durable "equivalent".

BC/CC might look nice but the base/clear combination is pretty obvious and was not used originally.

“I asked the owner how that was done and he told me.”

Come on Dan, don’t leave us hangin', just how did he do it, that is, achieve a factory finish????

When the day comes to spread some finish on my ’50 I’ve been planning good old enamel like she came from the factory with. Centari has been around since time began and was what was used for a lot of the repair work in the dealership I worked in back in the late 50’s. I’m trying to stick with PPG’s paint line because it is easier to find in my area and I've got lots of material. Hoping they still mix Delstar when I get ready to shoot my sheet metal, but I may have to go with Concept.
Dupont paint seems to be fading away around these parts, only one or two dealers that I know of still offer stock it.
