Both of the lower door hinges are a bit rusty but I think they're still strong and alright. However, the metal spacers that fit on both sides of the hinge pin are corroded or missing. Any homemade fixes for this or do I have to buy new brackets?

if you're talking about the pin bushings, there's kits available for the pins, if you mean the fixed side of the hinge itself, you'll need new hinges

Lower hinge pin replacement is fairly easy to do. Go to your local parts store and they have an assortment in the HELP section, or contact a vintage chevy truck supplier to narrow down your search. You might have some issues getting the old rusty pins out of the hinges. Not sure if you have the hinges off the truck yet--but another possibilty may be the hinge pockets may be rusted out and the hinge is moving freely in rust which is a much bigger job.
