on the Internet for over 30 years! and not clogged down with Ads! One appears to have three stripes, but I think they are a repaint from ages ago. I have looked in the specs from '36 on and find no reference to any wheel passenger or truck at 4 and a half inches wide. Any ideas??

It is as you say a 16" x 4.5" having 6 lug x 5.5" circle. Chevy part #3694214 and GMC part #2265087. Various references give different application dates, but for sure it was available on all of the first series trucks from 48 to 55. It's also shown in a K-H reference as used back to 1939 and in a National Wheel and Rim Association reference as late as 1958. If you check back to 1942 (look for "wheels in each year's table of contents), you'll find that a 6.50x16" wheel/tire option was available back to 1942 (same bolt pattern for all years). | | | | | Joined: Jan 2003 Posts: 64 Wrench Fetcher | | Wrench Fetcher Joined: Jan 2003 Posts: 64 | Well, thank you all, I guess I was looking in the wrong places. These wheels are probably too rusted to save. And not at all rare. rhp
