I need some help / info... I have a 1953 3/4 GMC, I have installed a sb 350 with Edelbrock manifold with a 650cfm Edelbrock carb, now the problem: when I park it in the garage overnight, the next day smells of gas, some days more than others, I have added a neopreme spacer to cut down on percolation of fuel & replaced all lines, cut rubber fuel lines to minimum, put a new tank with a baffle / fuel filter on the breather...I'm thinking that maybe the fuel pump (stock unit) may be running to much pressure to the carb...has anyone come across this problem ! The "SMELL" is defenitly coming from the front / eng. comp...any info would be appreciated...Thanks, B

Im running a Demon carb but both carbs only like about 5lbs of pressure. I added a pressure regulator and dropped it to 5lbs. Works great.
After shut off the pressure may be pushing fuel past the needle and seat. not good for the motor.

Does yours have a pressure guage attached to show exact pressure ?!? Where did you get the unit (Jeggs or ?!?). What can I expect to pay for a good unit ! One more thing, do you have shots of your '39 GMC Resto-rod, what mods have you done to it / her !
P.S. If fuel is being pushed past the needle seats then if I check the oil, there should be a hint of gas in it, which means that I should change the corroded oil !?!

Would love to find a deal like that !!! How about adding some "pin stripping" it might add a little...definition or !!!!
Was the Summit regulator accurate when you checked it with the pressure gauge ? (What I'm saying is, can I get by without a guage, or would you recomend one!) Do you know if someone offers a regulator / guage combo ! Thanks again for the input... I think I will post my 1953 on the hotrodders gallery too...good site !!!

As far as pinstripping nah, never have liked it but some subtle flames are on the way. Im working on the hood now. Im welding the top halves together to make a solid hood. Side pieces will be mounted solidly. Havent decided whether to have the hood open sideways or reverse. Still mulling it over.
As far as the regulator I would recommend a gauge to be able to set your pressure. I think I paid around $75 for my regulator. My brother used a $20 generic adjustable regulator from Checker Auto and I think the highest setting is 5 lbs. And it was dead on at 5 lbs.

I like the "ghost flames' , it would be a good look for your paint... I would hinge the hood from the side to give it that dated look, besides I think the "reverse" look is over done, at least out here it is...the stock/resto looks seems to work a little better, keeps them guessing !
