Hello,

My name's Doug,& I just sold my
original (almost all original)'68 Ford-
F250.I got a really good price for it.
Next door,there's been a '60 Apache
30 that was used as an ambulance in a small
logging town near here. It's almost all or-
iginal.Original paint,most of the inter-
ior's perfect,& it's not rusty.Best of all-
it has 5100 miles (yes,5100).235-6 cylin-
der with a 4 speed transmission. The paint needs to be buffed out in a few places.
Runs & drives great.
It was built in Oakland,CA,sold to
the mill new in 1960 by Sacchi Chevrolet
in Arcata,CA.It's an ambulance conversion
by Pacific Body Builders in Portland,Ore.
I can't seem to find anything about the
company.
It also has the original rims with
7.50 -17 tires on them. What's the way to
go on them?Replace the tires only,or re-
place the tires/rims with?
I wish that I could post a picture here to show exactly what it looks like.

- Doug

Welcome, Doug.
Sounds like a neat truck you got there. You have a few options on the wheels/tires. Stay with the 17's which should do you fine, replace the wheels with later 1 piece 16", though you may have to hunt for a set with the right back spacing for tie rod end clearance in the front...might not be an issue on a '60 but I'm not sure, or find a set of 19.5 wheels and run tubeless radials. If you go with an 8r-19.5 tire they will be about the same height as your 17's.
Post pictures!

I think that I'll stick with the split rims.
I'm looking at about $1300 for new,American made
tires,tubes,liners,& mounting & balancing.
I think that going to radials would be even more
expensive.

from the Chinese made ones.

This is a little late coming, but congratulations on acquiring one nice one ton!

I was eyeballing that truck a few years back where it was taking up residence in one of the large sheds at the Korbel mill.

Your pride in ownership really showed at the Cruzin' Eureka event.
