But further investigation showed leaking axle seals. Putting new seals in won't solve this problem. The roadblock is nobody makes an axle blank this size anymore. Having new axles made was my first choice. I suggested speedi sleeves but the company doing the work say the won't work. I think the seal diameter must be a little smaller than the spline diameter. I'll suggest an under size seal to them.

You can find and order oil the right oil seals from here just by entering the sizes into the calculator on the web site. on line oil bearing and oil seal shop I have bought lots of parts from these people and their service has been excellent so far. They are based in the UK but do ship internationally. Another solution would be to get the ridged area on the axle built up with metal and ground back to the original size so that you could use the stock size of oil seal on the axle. One process for this is called Metal apraying or flame spraying in the UK, I'm sure there must be companies who provide this service in or around PA too. | | |
