I called Paul's Chrome plating, quoted me 900 bucks for a bumper plating. I thought it would be in the ballpark of 200 - 250 bucks.

And don't even ask about Grille - 1500 , that was low estimate.

No one in Fairfax, VA and MD neighbourhood does plating beyond 4ft long items. Looks like Repro or paint it cream color

Ganesh, try these guys,

http://www.rschrome.com/

Bill Bailey reccomended them to me and they have a bunch of my stuff right now. Call and talk to Mac, it probably wouldn't hurt to mention the Stovebolt and that they have done (and are doing) stuff for other members. So far, they have been great to deal with and the pricing seems fair. Pauls wanted 1900.00 to do the grill on my GMC 9500 and as you said that was the low side.
I gave up on the local guys, especially the one in Kensington.....

Ganesh,

You can buy a new bumper for $150. May I ask why you are even considering having yours re-plated?

I'm curious about whether it was a phone quote or if they physically inspected the bumper first. A phone quote will always be high in case the item is is bad shape, needing a lot of work, when it arrives. I prefer rechroming because of the crappy repop chrome parts most vendors sell.

Well I have set of bumpers front and rear. The front came with the truck which is sandblasted and clean now. Rear one I bought was chrome but little pitted and all. So I am ok with painting but thought have both chromed. But now I have to blast the chromed one and paint it

The reason why I was leaning towards chromed my bumper was because I want to use as much as original truck.
And the quote was a phone quote but still way up in the hill for me to reach for a bumper

As you probably know, in 1952, the bumpers would not have been chromed. " . . . I want to use as much as original truck. " Paint your bumpers and drive it as an original truck.

You can blast or sand the chrome replacement bumper and it will hold paint fine (epoxy prime it).

There's your answer.... You can't go wrong with historic accuracy.
