Would like to not break the bank buying rear drop springs for my 1962 1/2 ton GMC. 3" drop is what I am looking for. Any suggestions?.... Thanks

The glass is twice as big as it needs to be.

I've heard of using newer jeep wrangler springs. Saw a post somewhere. They're identical I think. Find the local jeep place that does jeep lift kits. Bet you can pick some up cheap. I remember vaguely the poster said they were 10 bucks.

So is a 63-67 rear spring the same as a 62?

I purchased my springs from CPP. Don't buy them from LMC... they buy them from CPP and mark them up a $70 bucks a pair! Learn from my mistake....

The "Jeep" springs sound scary. Never heard of a half ton hauling capacity Jeep Wrangler.

When it comes to suspension components, steering and brakes its best to belly up to the bar and buy components made for the specific vehicle, IMHO.

I got mine from CPP. They have really good customer service and technical support. They usually are a little bit cheaper then Early Classic Enterprises too.

Something you might think about. You could cut half a coil on your stocks spring and get 2 inch lowering blocks. That would get you 3 inches of drop and cost about $70 bucks.

How do I know so much about these trucks?
I stayed at a Holiday Inn Express last night.

Check this link on jeep springs. 4 inch drop. Identical spring except for wire size.

i bet you are right about the jeep springs not having the capacity, but it prob won't have much hauling capacity after a 4" drop either.

The local brake and spring shop here cut the spring or heated it on my brothers truck .I heard all the bad stories from everyone not to do it, but they knew what they are doing and he loves it .Its been 4 or 5 years now .He also still uses his truck for towing and hauling.
