Is there anyone out there that sells a three on the floor shifter kit for my 58 apache by chance ? Im missing part of the linkage so switching to 3 on the floor would be easier. Any info is appreciated.

Mr. Gasket has one called the "Indy Shifter", I think Hurst sell it, too. Personally, I don't care for the conversions, they never seem to perform as well as the stock shifter, throws are too long.
What part are you missing? I've seen complete column shifter mechanisms at the swaps, should be able to find them at the salvage yards, too. They pop up in the Parts for sale section as well. JIMBO59CHEVY seems to get them from time to time, might be worth checking with him.

It would be OK if you could find a good kit, but I don't think you can. I put a Indy shifter on a 4 speed & it was a piece of junk. I sent it back. You can get a good 4 speed shifter if you pay $350 on up. I would repair the column shifter like Longbox say's.

They say money can't buy happiness. It can buy old Chevy trucks though. Same thing.

I have a 3 speed in my garage that I would like to get rid of. It has the floor shifter attachment. It shifts smoothly and is complete. Let me know if you want it. Too bad you are in chicago. I would give you the whole thing. lol

I'm closer to you than Chicago! If he doesn't want it, do you think you could crate it up so UPS would haul it to Tennessee? I'd be glad to pay crating and shipping costs! 58 Chev, I've got a floor shifter on a mid-80's 3 speed trans that I'll give you. Send me an email or an IM.

I'm running a Mr. Gasket 3 speed shifter in my 65 C10. Non synchro tranny. They work good if you set them up right. They've got a long throw but drilling new holes in the arm on the tranny cures that. One other problem is they tend to get loose. The cross bolt that goes through the shifter and bolts to the bracket comes loose. Double nutting works for a while but I drill a hole through the nut and bolt and install a cotter key. Stays tight and shifts nice. JMHO
