My heater core was leaking in my burb. I took it out and ordered a new one from LMC. I figured it would have been the same as the truck. Couldnt find one for a burb. So I ordered it. When it arrived it was not the same. I measured the old one and looked up the new ones for the trucks. The "deluxe" was listed at 9 1/2 inches and mine was too, so I figured that was the one. But like I said, once it got here, they were not the same. Any help? Suggestions? Where can I find one? Anything?

If your tanks are in good shape on the original core,take it to a radiator shop and have a new core installed.

Looks like rock auto may have it,depending on what heater you have.

Thanks for the responses. I checked rockauto and the ones they have do not look like the one I need. I would hate to order it and then have 2 I cant use. I am going to check with a local radiator shop.

Went to a local radiator shop this morning and they told me it was the heater valve that was leaking not the core. But I am having just as much trouble finding the heater valve as I was the core. Again I checked RockAuto, but the ones they have listed look nothing like the one I have. So I am beginning to wonder if I even have the original heater core and parts. Very frustrating.

that is exactly what I need! but on the american website it says its discontinued.

I called American and they lost their supplier who was rebuilding those valves for them. He gave me another place to try called bowtie bits. I will let you know.

well then you hafta try and track down whoever it was that was rebuilding them, or check all the other vendors, or bug NAPA to see if there's a Balkamp repair kit like there are for earlier years - or get one from an earlier year [or a vintage Volvo supplier] and use it to rebuild yours ..... or just scrap that control in favor of a simple cable operated shutoff like this mounted under the hood where leaks won't be a problem, those Ranco valves always leak sooner or later

I called bowtie bits and they do not have any and are not rebuilding either. Thanks bill for all the info and I will keep plugging away at it. all else fails i will put in another manual shut off.

You may call Jim Carters they have a re builder for heater control valves.

I have also found a rebuild kit I think might work. So I am going to give it a try. I also found a NOS one on ebay, but its pricey. So I have options at this point.

I rebuilt one a while back,it wasn't hard,just took time and plenty of pictures as i took it apart.
