I was wondering if there is any one who has made the swap to the 700 r i have read a lot of threads but it seems like every one has just heard of someone doing it. iam am trying to get some more info on it iam very intereted in doing this to my 55 1st 3100 thanks for any info i can get.

Hy inello, welcome, there are at least a couple of places that make adapters to mount V8 style transmissions to the 235/261 series of engines, with one of those kits and the appropriate flywheel, you could mount that, or any other transmission designed to be mounted behind a V8 or post 62 6 cylinder engine. The tricky thing about the 700R4 is the throttle modulation cable hookup, you must get that correct or the clutches can slip greatly shortening the life of the transmission, use the Search feature to find info and links to the adapter suppliers and the throttle modulation cable setup, hope that helps

I used a Buffalo adapter to put a 200-4r behind a 248. His setup includes the adapter and a flexplate.

Also used Buffalo adapter--700R4/261. Very pleased. Steel not aluminum like Langdon adaptor. Buffalo very easy to work with.
