The gauge registered Full all the time so when I installed a ground from the sender post to the frame it now registers Empty all the time. Do I need a voltage reducer or resistor on the ignition to gas gauge circuit to get to register correctly? | | | | | Joined: Jan 2009 Posts: 1,644 Shop Shark | | Shop Shark Joined: Jan 2009 Posts: 1,644 | Chances are the sender is the wrong OHM you should have a 0-30 OHM,I got one when I bought my gas tank it was marked 0-30 OHM so I installed it with out checking same thing happened to Me so I pulled it out and checked it with my ohm meter and it was 75-150 I think even thu it was clearly marked 0-30,they gave me a new one,and all was well,I would check the ohms frist.It should read from 0 at one end to 30 at other.

The ground you installed from the sender post to the frame - are you saying you used a "Y" connector on the sender with one wire going back to the guage and the other to frame ground? Try moving the ground wire to the sender flange instead, sounds like the guage is working fine. | | | | | Joined: Apr 2010 Posts: 22 New Guy | | New Guy Joined: Apr 2010 Posts: 22 | I ended up taking that ground off and putting on a Runtz voltage reducer that is grounded to dash.
