I'm rebuilding a Carter updraft carb for my COE. I've got the carb apart and it is missing the step up piston. I took the step up plug off and I have the spring, but no piston. Is the piston metal or another material that would deteriorate? Where would I find another. Help...

It's a down-draft carb but the pumps are the same I would think. A new pump, (piston), should be in a rebuild kit. It's metal with a soft seal attatched to the disc at the end of the flat metal shaft, forming a piston.
Hope this helps.
