It has the short water pump with 16" blade. Its over heating, the regular pump makes the fan blade hit the lower drum on the 4 pass radiator. I can't move the radiator forward without cutting metal. Can anyone give me another option. This will put the pump back to the corect place on the rad thus letting the fan pull air though the rad like it should. I've used both set ups and the adapter works the best. It sounds like a pain but put on the adapter and your over heating issues are gone. Then you can move on to the next problem... LOL

I just received the adapter plate, it states that the harmonic balancer and water pump should be off the original 216, which has already left my possession. Can I use the 261 balancer or do I need to start looking for a 216 balancer, of which I had two of, not more than 4 months ago. The original water pump I can purchase, though I have two new ones, patricks and a short pump which now I can't use. Yes, you can use the 261 harmonic balancer as long as its groove width matches the grooves on the alternator/generator pulley and the water pump pulley.
Jim Carter has the older style pump with either 3/8" or 5/8" pulley.
Get an older-style and a newer-style water pump gasket (no matter what the instructions say about the need for gaskets).
