Hi Gang,
Sunday I was warming my truck up for a drive in my '62 up to Lodi, 10 mins of warming up the engine while loading the bed with supplies for the trip, I noticed she was smoking a whiteish haze smoke out the exhaust pipe.
I then tapped the gas peddle, then a cloud of black smoke came out. :confused:
The temp outside at the time was 76-78 degrees. Also she doesn't have no oomph when engine is at running temp. :confused:
Could the exhaust pipe be loading up? Or could the 235 need a valve job?

Is your heat riser valve stuck? It could be causing the carb to heat up and boil over. You are running too rich. Check your float level. I had a similar problem when I first setup my B carb on my 261. It was running so rich it was burning oil. Putting in the right jet and lowering the float level a bit fixed it right up. The carb had a #62 jet which was way too rich. 235's take #53.

Caution, fix it before you go. I have been there and you don't want to be stuck in Lodi singing to a bunch of drunks trying to get a bus fare out of there. I heard a story about that.My self was stranded in Lincoln Ca. That makes Lodi seem like heaven.Have you ever been cursed at for walking down the road? Not just by 1 person but by several? It was like a spook flick.
