One problem(?) the heads of the srews that fix the oli pump have round heads Is that normal or are they damaged? Ask Wolfgang | | | | | Joined: Mar 2002 Posts: 9,115 'Bolter | | 'Bolter Joined: Mar 2002 Posts: 9,115 | Those round headed bolts should not be removed. They were used to secure the distributor mounting and the hole was line bored afterwards in the factory.
To remove the oil pump, remove the pan and the plumbing to the pump. Then remove the set screw on the oil pump shaft that is up near the inside wall of the block. The screw has a locking nut at the base. | | | | | Joined: Apr 2010 Posts: 160 'Bolter | | 'Bolter Joined: Apr 2010 Posts: 160 | Observe how much machined area of the pump stem sticks out of the block so you will know when you have it back in completely. They sometimes need a little persuation. | | |
