I am reaching the point that I will have to buy tires. I want as much diameter as possible, but with minimal width. I want to counteract the 4:11 gearing, but I don't want to get away from my stock 15x5 1/2 rims.

Has anyone messed with this enough to know what current common sizes are available...in the tall department??

Thanks,

Gary

Unfortunatly, if you want narrow and tall, there just isn't anything available in a modern tire. 27-28" is about all you're going to get and stay under a 7" tire width. Even then, the 5.5 rims may be too narrow. Also, with a modern radial, you'll have to go with a single peice wheel, tubeless tires do not work very well with multi peice wheels.
You might want to check with Coker or Denman, they may have a bias ply that will fit what you're looking for.

Coker is too spendy. My rims aren't multi-piece. They are the "artilery" type, and 15 inch. 28 seems to be about the tallest that I have been able to find, so I guess that's going to be my limit. I haven't compared with the originals, though. I will do that. I think they were either 6.70s or 7.60s.

Thanks

Gary
