Is the 235 motor the same in all the years they used them. I'm needing another motor for my 54 pickup and have found a 235 out of a 61 chevy pickup. thanks mark

basically the same but with some improvements, especially in the way oil gets to the rockers. The water pumps were different as well and you'll need an adapter to move the pump up more in the center of the radiator, or you can get a new "short" pump and pulley from Patrick's.

Click on the "User List" button at the top of any page and do a search with "pre", his name will pop up. Click on his user name and then you can send him a private message.

Buffalo also makes the adapter and there may be others.

There were a number of miner differences but the main difference is the mounting. Your 54 is mounted in the front center. The 61 engine will not be drilled for the front mount but it is easy to drill for the mount.
There is also a problem with the throttle linkage pivot.
1960-62 engines dropped the threaded boss where the 54 pivot mounted.
