When I got the truck, it was loooong gone. i plan to replace the SM420 now and am wondering if the "later" models are interchangeable. In other words, I found one out of a '66 and it is in decent shape. Will SM420's from that late of a model bolt up into my '57? Also looking for specs on drivelines. I have a stock 265, SM420 and stock rear.... Thanks-Dan

There was some variation in the size of the front brg. retainer where it goes into the bell houseing. Now would be a good time to think about a T-5 o,drive.

If I deviate from that, then I would throw in a radically built 350 w/fuel injection, 700R4 and throw in a Ferd 9" or something out of a 70's mid size car with posi. Thanks for the info. The 420 should fit right in. The only concern I would have is the output yoke, it might be different. But you should be able to swap them if necessary without too much trouble.
