looks like all i need to do is change the bell housing and front timing cover or bracket the front mount goes on.

You need to tell us what truck and what year 235 to get good answers. There are different bell housings and different 235s to take into account. I can only guess you are putting a '55-59 engine into a '53 or older truck. If so you will need to keep the old bell housing. If the later engine has a lip on the timing cover you can drill holes in it. If not you'll have to change it. You'll also have a water pump issue. There are several ways to resolve that.

Actually 1954 had the different bell housing,it was beveled where the mounts go.I think 1954-1959 are the same.

That's what I said. A pre-'53 will need to keep the 216 bellhousing.

To add too it, to keep a 6V starter you need to use the earlier flywheel. If you use the later flywheel you'll need to change to a 12V starter.

If he has a '54 235 engine then it's a different story. I said I was guessing he was using a '55-59. I base my guess on his statement that he might need to change the timing cover. If it were a '54 235 it would have mount holes in the cover. I have no idea what he's using. You don't either so why do you want to argue about it?

I'm not arguing,just letting him know that the 1954 bellhousing is different.

the 235 is from a 55 and i am putting it in my 51. the 55 bell housing has a slant where the mounts go and the bottom of the timing housing has no holes in it. i thought i would just swap them. thank you for all your help.

To swap those plates you must drop the oil pan and pull the cam. It's much easier to drill the holes. Someone posted a few days ago that there is a Stovebolt tech tip on locating them.
