The Stovebolt Site Forums The Parking Lot Big Bolts Are all 216 Carbs the same?

When I had the carburetor on my 52 Chevy ton and a half rebuilt, the guy that rebuilt it told me that the carb and intake were off a car because of thier small diameter. He showed me a similar carb to mine that had a larger diameter. I also saw a 54 Big Bolt that had a larger carb, but I'm not sure about the engine. Bottom line, am I able to change that intake and put a larger carb, and will that help me any when carring heavy loads or going uphill?

The truck & car 216's had the same size carb. The 235's had a larger throat carb & manifold. I dont think you can put the larger manifold on the 216 & have it fit right. The 235 carb has wider mount bolt spacing so would not fit the 216 manifold.
