I want to replace the 235 six in my 60 C10 with an early 60's 283. I plan to keep the 4-speed that is in the truck now. The engine has a cast iron bell housing and is bolted to a heavy duty 4-speed from a 53 school bus. My question is exactly what motor and frame mounts are necessary for this swap and what else do I need to change? Thanks.

60-61-62 came with a hydraulic clutch actuator mounted on the bellhousing. You will need a V-8 bellhousing from one of those three years. You will also need a V-8 flywheel. The clutch can possibly be used if it is the same size as the V-8 flywheel you obtain (either 10" or 11"). The rear mounts on the bellhousing/crossmember are the same but nothing from the 235 will interchange with the V-8. Try to find the stock front or side mounts from a V-8 truck otherwise there are some aftermarket mount kits.

The 283 has a flywheel and clutch assy. attached to it now. I am uncertian as to the year of the bellhousing. I will try for a casting number I.D. Thanks
