Use a site like Jaxed.com to help you look. I doubt there are a whole lot of vintage trucks on Long Island anymore for a variety of reasons. Should be plenty in Upstate and Jersey. Farm country!

Try Crazedlist.org.

It searches through several locations on Craigslist at once. Doesn't work with Internet Explore, but works fine with Mozilla Firefox.

All the Craigslist locations are shown, you check off which you want to search. Saves a lot of time versus searching each individually.

Search "196* Chev* truck" and "196* GMC" then narrow your mileage search.
Boston 65 GMC $3500

4x4 suburban, no picture, best offer in NH

type in craigfind.com and then click on the first listing then when the search box comes up, type in what you are looking for and that will search all listings that have that in the title.
hope this helps.

John101, I'm also searching for a truck. I've never gotten the * wildcard to work, so the earlier advice of 196* and chev* never worked for me, but here is my search:

(1963 | 1964 | 1965 | 1966 | 63 | 64 | 65 | 66) (chev | chevy | chevrolet) (pickup | pup | truck | shortbed | short | stepside | step)

That's about every combination of terms I can think of. It must find one term in each set of parentheses for an item to be listed. It works really well. I use crazedlist.org to search many cities in my state and neighboring states, and I'll put a price range of 0-4500, and I'll click the "has image box." After I hit the "search" button, I bookmark the results. Now I can just go to my bookmark and see all the most recent results when I want to look for a truck. I probably go and look every couple days or so for new trucks on the market.

Good luck.

Steve.

The swap meet here at the bolt

Craigslist, as has been mentioned.

Truck Trader, which is at your local newsstand/convenience store.

eBay - they come and go on there

look for farm equipment and estate auctions within driving distance from you.

Look up the websites or local online news sites for small towns and rural areas around... sometimes they might have a listing of something... or mention of an auction.

Just about every website that is like the bolt here, has a 'for sale' section... sometimes it is in the forum, sometimes it is a webpage.

searching for used GM truck parts

You can check out the different ones there.

Enjoy,

-W
