The Stovebolt Site Forums The Shop Area Engine Shop The '34 is stalling out again

The stalling problem is back. Here is what I've done so far:

Replaced the carburetor
Set the timing
Replaced the coil
Replaced the fuel pump

When the '34 gets up to temperature, it is as if I took my foot off the gas and it coasts down and stalls. I can step on the pedal and nothing happens. I can get the '34 running again after a few minutes, set the throttle high, and drive without stepping on the gas, but it will eventually stall out again.

ANy thoughts?

Blockage in the fuel line/tank outlet?

I agree a blockage , story , when I was frist married we didn't have alot of money so one of my Dads freinds offered us his old car for 100.00 nice old big boat ,had the same problem he told us before we bought it but I thought it was the gas filter in the carb ,remember those?Got it home and changed the filter nothing changed so I started at the tank and checked out the gas line got to the front of the motor and the gas line was run behind the water pump so I pulled up on the line and there was a inline filter some one had installed years ago changed that and it ran like a top.I quess what I'm saying is go over the fuel sys.front to back..

Next time it stalls (and you're not in traffic) pull the fuel line off of the carb and have someone crank the engine. If you don't have a robust amount of fuel coming out you indeed have a blockage. If you have a blockage work your way back to the tank, one fitting at a time checking for flow.
