I recently acquired this original engine and drivetrain vehicle with the original paint on it, I believe. It is about 95% complete original parts with a rusted "bottom" bed. My questions are that I have noticed in photos of restored 41's that most are painted red on the sheet metal that wraps around the front between the two grills, upper and lower and that the are also red paint on the front "fender part" that goes up to the hood which is red ,on my truck this is black, I have sanded these areas gently and there is no red under the black. I know the red looks better then the black but which is the original color? My second question is does any one know where I can get the bottom metal for the pickup bed? The sides and end are in excellant shape and the tail needs some work but overall the bed is very good for 70 years old. Any help would be appreciated, first time posting hope 9it works. douggd

I have always wondered the same thing in regards to the sides of the hood where the fenders extend up. Referring to this pic of the front of my '46... should the 'A' be green? Should the 'B' be green or should 'B' split to black from 'A'? And if 'C' wasnt chrome, would it be black or green?

I'm asking these questions from a 'factory' standpoint. Not trying to hijack this thread, just wondering myself as doug one is.
I guess I am also assuming '41 and '46 would be the same. Thanks!

Kingisomer, as for the paint question, what a great photo of a Utility, can’t be more factory correct than that.
