G'day Everyone on Stovebolt,

Just wondering if anyone has had experience swapping a six cylinder in a C30 to a V8. The truck currently has a 4 speed manual. What bits and pieces would need to make an effective and safe swap. I would like to use the truck to be able to tow my 1940 Chevrolet truck on a trailer to interstate meetings. I am just at the idea stage of things deciding which way to go. Any help would be appreciated.

Kind Regards
Glynn

The 350 and 454 were factory options in '75 so all the parts are available to make this swap. The exact list of bits and pieces is going to vary depending on exactly what options you want to hang off the motor or in the engine compartment.

I believe the engine mounts on the frame will be different because thde 292 is unique. Those mounts and the correct exhaust manifolds are the first things I think of.

A couple of other items to add near the top of your planning list would be an appropriate rearend ratio that would complement the overdrive transmission choice .ie a good towing package for the interstate travel.

Good luck

Hello,

Thank you Steve and Wrench for the replies. Good to know that the V8 was an optional extra - it helps to know that something should fit before I start to play. Now just need money and the time to be right. Getting the two of them together always seems the tricky part!

Kind Regards
Glynn
