I have a 1959 Pickup and would like to swap the original 235 cu in. inline 6 with a v8- probably a 350. What is required to do this other than changing the motor mounts? Any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks

if you use the automatic you'll need to add the trans mount cross member as well as the engine side mounts, all available from the vendors - you'll also need a different driveshaft yoke to match the trans output spline#, and of course do some adapting for a shifter [floor] ... otherwise it's pretty straight forward and lots have done it, so looking around this forum should turn up discussions

If you are useing a manual trans. you need a bell houseing from a 55-72 v-8 or a 63-72 6 cyl. excluding the early 60's with hydraulic clutch. The front engine mount kit like the factory used is available from the speciaty suppliers or you can use a universal side mount kit. The throttle parts are also available but you can adapt a cable system from a 71 up or a street rod universal one.
You will be pleased with the results. It weighs less then the 235 & puts the weight further back making it easier to steer & handle better. If you use HEI it is real close to the firewall. I like to use a point type dist with an electronic changeover.

They say money can't buy happiness. It can buy old Chevy trucks though. Same thing.
