A fenderless rod should either have a straight axle which looks traditional, or an IFS that looks like it came off a championship or F-1 race car.
These of course are just my opinions, but my advice would be that you drop the S-10 idea and either rebuild the stock or look at much more sophisticated IFS possibilities.

You could lose the IFS, weld in a cross member or a suicide perch and run a transverse leaf, I-beam with hair pins or something. The sky and talent constraints are the limit.
